Drawing upon this experience, he eventually decided to go into business for himself by forming Dwight Andrus Insurance. In 1978, Dwight Andrus, III joined his grandfather in the family business. During the early 80s, Louisiana experienced a recession due to the crash of the oil industry – and this proved to be a turning point for Dwight Andrus Insurance. Under the management of Dwight III, the agency excelled during a difficult economic period.
Much of this growth was fueled by the oil and gas industry servicing the gulf coast. This high-risk industry could not operate without adequate coverage. Dwight Andrus Insurance focused on catering to the “special risk” needs of the oil and gas industry by developing response and service guidelines designed to meet and exceed the expectations of their clients. The company quickly learned that time is money – which soon resulted in even greater success.
Since that time, the Andrus brothers have focused on perpetuating the firm by building upon the basic principles that their grandfather put into place at the company’s inception: honesty, integrity, knowledge, service and persistence.
In 2006, the fourth generation entered the family business. Dwight Andrus, IV and Lynsey Andrus-Braniff bring energy and enthusiasm towards meeting today’s changing economic and environmental challenges.
The Andrus family also anticipates the addition of future generations to their company. With this in mind, the firm plans to remain a family-owned, independent insurance agency and continue to grow and expand its footprint as it has done throughout its long, successful history.
